Other Europeans will be able to use German eID services

In accordance with the eIDAS Regulation, Germany must recognize the notified eID systems of other EU member states by 29 September 2018, and these systems must be able to be used for German administrative services by that date.

German eID servers will be eIDAS compliant

The technical implementation is being carried out in the framework of the Connect Europe Facility (CEF) TREATS (Trans-European AuThentication Services) project, which receives funding from the EU.

The project, which ends on 30 November, will make the German eID servers eIDAS compliant and will enable or expand eID applications, public services and service accounts.

In this way, other Europeans will be able to use the German eID services with other notified electronic identities.
The Federal Office for Information Security is currently revising underlying Technical Guideline to include the eIDAS functions.
